Need advice on changing my 6" lift kit (Pics)

I have a 2003 F350, I bought the truck several months ago and was told it has a 6" lift. Not sure what kind or style as I am not very firmiliar with lifted truck parts.
I love the truck but like any lifted truck I have driven, it rides and steers like crap. I think it looks nice but I am going to be plowing with this truck. A friend of mine drives a 06 PSD 350 with a 6" lift and plows with the truck on stock wheels/tires no problem.
My question is, is there anyway to change my current lift from 6" down to say 3 or 4 without spending a ton of money?
I think if my truck was a few inches shorter then it would make life alot easier.
Dont think it would drive any nicer but if for minimal money I could change the suspension to a little less height then it would make plowing and life alot easier.
Any suggestions for my situation?
Heres some pics:

Looks like a 6" to me. Take some pictures of the front suspension, maybe you'll have a leaf pack and you could take it out.

It really just looks like 6" leaf springs though. You could always call a 4x4 shop and see if they have any lower kits pulled off a superduty.
