Question on wheels for an 06 Ford

I have bought an 06 F350 SRW truck. When I get it running, I am going to put wheels and tires on it. It came factory with 18" steel wheels. Will I have to stay 18" or bigger or would I be able to drop down to say a 17" or even a 16" wheel? im on a budget and will be looking for a cheap way to make it look better than the 18" eye sores it has on it now?

I know that 16" wheels will not fit anything 05 or newer, you can go down to 17" wheels as thats what my 05 came factory with

You being a Dodge guy, it's worth mentioning that these trucks use an 8x170 bolt pattern, not a n 8x6.5 bolt pattern. They're close, but not close enough to swap.
