06 F350 Height issue
Hi All,
I am new to this group. I had been looking to buy an F250 for several months and did most of my research on the F250's.. I ended up buying an 06 F350 last week. Everything is great and I love the truck except that it will not clear the garage door, height wise. The garage door is just about 7 foot high. I thought the truck had a slight lift on it as did the seller, but the guys at the local Ford dealership say the truck is stock and that some F350's came with a high lift. Looking at the 2006 specs for the F350 it says the truck should be about 6.5 feet high. I stocked a couple other similar F350s locally so I could compare them and they are about 5 inches lower. So who is right and what should I do? Can the truck be slightly lowered? As much as I hate to lower it, it kills me to see it out in this *&^!$%@ Ohio weather, as it spent it's pampered life in Florida. specs - 06 F350, Crew Cab short bed, 6.0L Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks Ryan |

Hi Ryan..
I have a 05 F350 4X4 stock hight and stock tires and will it fit in a 7' door.....I doubt it. I have a 8' door and fits fine.

Get a taller garage door. I am sure you can squeeze another foot out of your door.

My 06 seems like it's taller than 6'5". I'm 6-3, and it's definitely taller than me.
Lowering a 4x4 F350 - that should be illegal. Personally, I'd raise the garage door instead. |

Raising the door height is probably not an option, it depends on roof line. It can get real expensive real quick doing this look to spend close to $2000 if you have to have someone to do the work for you. The price is going to be for a new door, different siding, different trim around the door and two days labor for 2 guys. Easier to lower the truck or just park outside. But if he wants to see if it is feasible send me some pics of the area above the door in a pm.

Welcome 2 the ORG... I've got an 8' door and a leveling kit and I can pull mine in with about an inch to spare...
