how do I know if my stabilizer is worn

how can I tell if my steering stabilizer is worn?

What are the symptoms of a worn one. I have never driven with a new one, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Right now I have a pretty loose steering wheel.....maybe stabilizer? I retorqued the pitman arm and replaced the drag link that helped, but still loose.

Take the stabilizer loose and push it in and pull it out, if there is little to no resistance either way its bad.
