Recon Side Mirror Turn Lens Replacement Problem

I am fighting with Recon's "Ford Superduty/Excursion LED Side Mirror Lenses."

I am trying to replace the shattered lens on my 2005 F250 6.0 side mirror turn signal.

When I try to re-attach the mirror cover/back with the new lens in place, the new lens is pushed back away from the cover and is no longer flush with the assembly.

The new Recon part has a pigtail unlike the 2005 OEM part. I don't think there is room in the assembly for the pigtail.

Anyone else deal with this?

I am going to call Recon when they open tomorrow, but I have a feeling this kit is going back to Amazon for a refund. (And then I suppose I am going to Ford?).

Also, caution, the 2005 assembly has 4 tabs, not three per the Recon instructions.

The lens on the left is the OEM part. The one on the right is the new Recon part snapped into the cover assembly.

The offending pigtail is permanently attached. Immediately under the pig tail is one of the two butterfly clips. Under the the butterfly clip you can see a square hole in the cover. The fourth tab on the assembly clips into that hole. You need to use a screwdriver to push that tab back as the last step before you remove the cover from the main mirror assembly.

I know it's been awhile since you posted this thread but when I did mine I just used a small screwdriver to keep the pigtail tight with the base of the mirror.
