2006 Mirror Trim Piece, wife busted it

Shame on her, she let a turkey fly out of the ditch at 70 mph and hit the truck. Luckily, only damage is to the passenger side mirror. I don't know what exactly to call it, its the plastic cover that covers up the 'hinge' area of the mirrors, two holes in it for the mirror 'arms' to come out of.

I'm assuming you can't just buy this cover piece? The whole mirror assembly has to be bought? It appears like Rock Auto (only place I looked so far) has the entire assembly for $133 each.

This is on a 2006 King Ranch F-250, so the back cover of the mirror is painted the body color. Haven't looked too closely, but that cover might easily be swapped to a new assembly?

1. Anybody know where to look just for this cover?
2. Anybody got an extra passenger mirror assembly laying in the garage collecting dust?
3. How easy to dissassemble the telescoping arms to slide the new cover back on? I'm assuming I can pop a trim piece off the door and the mirrors just unbolt from the inside.

Any help and insight would be appreciated.

You could check with Tousley Ford to see if they can get you the part for cheap. Next I would post in the classifieds here on the Org explaining what you need - with a picture.

Otherwise, check with some of the junkyards in your area. Most junkyards have a network they work within. I am pretty sure they can find what you are looking for.

Good luck-

sounds like a good time to upgrade the mirrors to the 2008 + ones
