RUBBING LEAF SPRINGS
I HAVE A 2004 PSD 4X4 CREW CAB SHORT BED WITH THE STOCK TIRES AND WHEELS ON IT. CURRENT SETUP IS 265 75 16
A BUDDY OF MINE HAD SOME 05 WHEELS 5 SPOKES WITH FACTORY TIRES THAT WERE 265 70 18'S. I PUT THEM ON, AND TO MY SURPRISE I WAS RUBBING THE INSIDE OF THE LEAF SPRING JUST BEFORE FULL LOCK. I OVERLOOKED THAT THE 2005'S HAVE COIL SPRINGS AND NOT LEAF SPRINGS. NEEDLESS TO SAY I TOOK THEM OFF BECAUSE I DIDNT WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY ON WHEEL SPACERS. NOW THAT I HAVE MY ORGINAL WHEELS AND TIRES BACK ON, MY QUESTION IS: CAN I GO WITH 285 75 16'S WITH NO PROBLEMS. THERE JUST DONT APPEAR TO BE MUCH ROOM BETWEEN THE TIRE AND THE LEAF SPRINGS AT FULL LOCK WITH STOCK ONES ON. ANYBODY KNOW WHAT YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH ON A 04 OR OLDER? THANKS STROKEITDUDE |

well
You can put some 305 75 16's or up to a 315 with a front leveling kit.

FRONT LEVELING KIT
THE KITS ONLY REQUIRED FOR THE 315'S THOUGH RIGHT?
I CAN GO WITH 305'S ALL DAY LONG WITH NO RUBBING? THANKS FOR QUICK RESPONSE STROKEITDUDE |

Well
For less then a hundred bucks you can lift the front 2" and clear the 315's. I like the look of a leveled sd with 305's myself. I cant stand how they hang low in the front. That was one of my first mods. But you could stuff a 305 in.

LEVELING KIT
WHATS INVOLVED IN PUTTING THAT LEVELING KIT ON, IS IT A NO BRAINER? WHERE IS THE CHEAPEST PLACE TO PUCHASE IT?
THANKS STROKITDUDE |

Depends on what style you get. I fyou get a shackle kit then it is replacing the leaf spring shackles. If you get add a leafs then it is just adding the add a leaf into the stock spring pack. Those are the two most popular leveling kits.

LEVELING KIT
SOUNDS TO ME THAT THE SHACKLES WOULD BE THE WAY TO GO. DOESN'T ADDING THAT EXTRA SPRING ON THE EXISTING SPRINGS MAKE IT RIDE ROUGHER?
THANKS STROKEITDUDE |

Yes and No. The reason I say that is because it depends on the spring rating of the add a leaf. The name brand lift kit companies like, rancho, sky jacker, super lift, trail master, tuff country, donahoe, fab tech, pro comp. All use a spring that is not rated that high but rated high enough to level the truck out. But they do not compromise the exsisting ride comfort of the truck.
