trouble with RECON headlights?

I'm looking at RECON smoked headlights for my 04. A buddy of mine had some on his GMC and said that they were tough to get installed correctly, and couldnt keep them working properly and ended up going back to stock headlights. Any advice?

I've heard the same - stay away. poor fitment and questionable long-term quality.

Just using the words "long term" or "quality" in the same sentence as Recon, makes me laugh...

ive got recon lights and have had no issues. the headlights have been on for @ 2 years the rest around 9 months.

Not all above is true. Recon has some good stuff. Headlights..... I wouldnt buy but a lot of people had luck! I have cab markers, they are GREAT. Now it was just lenses, not the kits which suck. I have the mirror lights by recon - perfect.

You can get away with GOOD little things from them.

I have the smokes cab lights and after 1 yr in the sun they are now clear and i have had to replace two because the led's went out. Recon sucks

I have recon smoked mirror and cab lights no probs.... i have recon 3rd brake light and its been a POS since the second week i bought it... random leds work at random times etc... i really think with recon it is hit or miss... why dont you go with harley headlights on the front of your 05.. thats what i did and loved them.. when i had my 05

I agree with that completely. Go with the Harley style headlights, you won't be disappointed - plus, some of the projector headlights don't look good on our trucks, totally my opinion though. I've got RECON cab lights, taillights, and 3rd brakelight. I'm looking of the mirror lenses now, however I really don't want to spend $100 on them. I haven't had any problems with any of mine lighting up (that I know of) however I am not impressed with them. I should've spent $400 on something else (instead of the smoked LED taillights and brakelight, I like the cab lights).
