Running board light mod
Is it possible to mod the black plastic running boards to have the entry lights like the similar king ranch ones?

Yes but you dont need to mod the running boards. I just wired up some LED's (under each door) into the inside dome light which wires are under the step plate on the drivers side.

That's a great idea! How do you like them and do you have a picture?

AutoZone sells stip light LED's for 20 bucks. The are about 12 inches long have a pretty long wire attached to them. They are self adhesive. I currently use the red ones as extra tail lights but will be getting a set of white to mount under each door and then wire them to the dome lights. I will upload a pic. They are super bright so you might have to cut them down to 8 or 6 inches to reduce the amount of LEDs.

Do you remember the color of the wire under the door sill that you tapped into? thanks

FYI, buy LED strip lights off amazon. You can get 15' self adhesive waterproof in any color combo you want for under $20. Also you can get the brighter type, 5050 LED I believe they are called. They will work fine with 12v systems.

Id love to do something like this but my concern is the self adhesive part. I know alot of it is how well you prep the surface before you stick it on their but Im still concerned how long will the tape hold up.

how did you wire them into the dome light?

Well, the dome light wiring runs under the drivers side floor right by the door. I used my volt meter to test which one powered up when the door opened and wired up a splitter into that.
