Tint Ticket...
So, I bought my truck in PA two years ago this past April. The previous owner was a cop outside of Philly, and the truck came with a 15% tint (which I already had an appointment to get my windows tinted to that the day after I bought it). The legal front window percentage in PA is 70%, so everybody that has their front windows tinted is illegal.
I've driven from PA out to Wyoming and back, and I go to school at Virginia Tech, so I've driven 81 for years, never been hassled. Today I was driving down 81 and saw over 20 staties along 81, and I passed all but one, who pulled me over for my tint. I know it's illegal in PA, but I didn't think that cops in other states could enforce out of state tint laws. I'm pretty pissed. Does anyone know any way I can get out of it? If not I'm just gonna pay the 94 bucks and keep going cause I obviously don't wanna take it off. I just think it's a load of horse sh*t. |

In MD we cant issue tickets for out of state equiptment violations. Im assuming it was VSP that gave you the ticket, Im not sure how they do things but i would call one of their Barracks and tell them what happened and see what they say about it. Did he say he knew what PA tint laws were or did he just say it was illegal in VA?

That does sound like some bs. I have never heard of being able to enforce laws from other states. Much like if it is legal where you live then another state cannot ticket you for the violation. Such as tint and whatnot. Might check with a lawyer but that is the way I was always told.

Ive been pulled over in cali several time in my jimmy 5% up front limo on the sides and back, They threaten tickets, I just tell them go ahead, its legal where I'm registered so its staying like this, they get pissed and tell me to think about fixing it other cops might not care and ticket me, IDK what the legality of it is,

Virginia law states that when driving on Virginia highways you must obey Virginia's laws, regardless of where your truck is registered. My brother is a police officer in that area and he writes tickets to college kids for tint every day. It's a pretty BS way to uphold the law but that is the law.

I think its all about money, for them its easy money, they think your not willing to come back and fight the ticket,

they should remove the phrase "to serve and protect" and replace it with "to write and collect"

It was about thirty miles North of Roanoke. It was crazy out there today.
