08 Tailgate Question

Got an 08 Tailgate. Will the lock outta my old tailgate fit into the 08 Tailgate, and will the new 08 lock fit back into the old tailgate?

Yep and yep. I have done 2 of them and both needed to be adjusted so the lock works smoothly but other than that it's an easy switch. I put mine on and back together before I realized it needed to be adjusted and I still haven't done it but I remember on the second one and it works like factory.

I went to Lima, Ohio 4x4 Jamborree last weekend. Put a hose clamp on the slotted side so they couldn't just pull the tailgate off. Anyways, went on to eat for an hour and come back and Tailgate was dented. Check Security Cameras at hotel and for like 10min. there was like 20 guys around my truck. Wasn't close enough to see what they did. So, planning on getting my lock switched.

Sorry basturds....anyhow when you take it apart there is a metal arm that turns with the key. You may have to bend it slightly to clear the rest of the lock. It's really easy once you take it out and look at it.

haha.. I just did the 6 dollar bracket and the tailgate to make it work. Now I just wanna lock it! might assist later, if I get lazy.. or get bored with expensive mods.

Then you should have the assist. If you bought the F150 bracket that's all you need to utilize the assist that's already in the tailgate
