Silicone spray would be better than WD-40. WD-40 is NOT a lubricant.

yep good ol wd40 should do the trick

Remove it and use silicone or something similar then re install. squeaks should be gone forever. But Choctaw is correct WD40 is NOT a lubricant.

Ok silicone it will be...can I just remove the back plate on the inside of the tailgate that has the eight torx screws in it...and spray it from back side? Or must i remove the entire handle???

Remove the screws from the inside side of the tailgate. their should be 2 clips that hold the rods (that go to each side of the release mechanisms) they can be released with your fingers. then the entire lock assembly should come out from the outside of the tailgate. you can then cycle it to determine where to add the lubricant. silicone grease would be better than silicone spray. but hey prob some wheel bering grease would be ok too. best luck! |
