Unfortunate Circumstances

Well, let me just give you a brief story before my questions. On a road trip through Iowa, spun on ice on freeway and the back of the truck hit a wall. The body shop is putting a new bed and tailgate and hitch on and also had to tweek the frame. My truck is a 2007. The body shop told me that they are putting a 2008 bed and tailgate on.

My questions are.....What are the differences in the two beds, if any? Do you guys see this as being a problem? I also bought some fender flares that weren't on the truck yet. Will they not fit the bed now since it is a 2008?

And anything else I should look for when I pick my truck up before I ok it as fixed? I wanna make sure that the body shop and insurance get it how I want it before I sign off on it.

No, everything should fit the same, including the flares.

On the positive side you get the new style tailgate out of the deal. Other then that it should look just like the factory bed.

I would ask for the frame alignment results and if not available at minimum ask for copies of the wheel alignment printout (4 wheel). That should tell you how straight or inversely how far off everything is when it's done.

Probably take it for a drive to make sure everything is ok.

Some of the obvious things: Check the gaps between the bed and the cab (upper, both sides, and lower) by measuring. If you can, look to see where the bed is bolted in to make sure there are no spacers or other such shenanigans. Check the frame rails for any obviously welds (some welding is okay if done cleanly).

With the new bed, you should also be getting the new taillights... Was your bed lined? I might ask them to have this one lined too.
