On to my question, how did you connect to the wiring harness for other features glass heat, light. Did you go thru the factory plug or just cut it off. And how close were the two harnesses? original truck, and new mirror, meaning color codes, I hope my ramblings
make sense. I'm just glad to you.

Thanks for any help,
Howard
I cut the plug off of the factory harness and the new mirrors and just hardwired everything with heat shrink butt crimp connectors. The wire colors were close, but not exact for the existing turn signal, marker light, heat, etc on the new mirrors. There is a diagram posted up on a thread already here on the org I found that showed what wire colors crossed between the exisiting 05-07 mirrors to the new 08 mirrors. Let me see If I can find it and I will post it back up here on this thread...

**EDIT: Here is the document written by another member that shows what wire colors cross from the stock 05-07 mirrors to the new 08 mirrorsits a pdf document)

Yes, I did have to run additional wiring for the powerfold and power-telescoping features from the pigtails on the new mirrors themselves to the switches I flush mounted into the dash. I had some 14 gauge automotive wire in different colors and made my own "harness". The 14 gauge wire is plenty heavy duty enough as the PF/PT functions will blow a 5 amp fuse, but a 7.5 amp fuse seems to be the trick. Its really easy; all the "harness" really is, is just 4 wires(2 for powerfold/2 for power-telescoping) ran from each mirror back to the switches in the dash. All wiring was ran in the black split wire loom before I fished through the doors and the dash.

Yes, the 08 mirrors do simply bolt up to the existing location of the stock 05-07 mirrors with one simple modification. On the door side(between the mirror and the door) of the 08 mirror bracket, there is an extra locating tab that you simply have to grind off for them to fit. The 08's have this extra locating tab and the 05-07's do not. If you are looking at the mirror in front of you, you will see what I am talking about, its simple to do.

Just as a side note for anyone looking to do this mod, If you have read other threads on the installation of 08 mirrors on pre-'08 trucks, you may or may not already know that after you wire the mirrors up, the power mirror adjust functions(left and right only) will be reversed. Up and down will function normally. Meaning when you push the switch left to adjust the mirror, it will move right and visa verca.

If you are ok with this, then you are good to go; if not, then you have 2 options to fix this.

1st option being to disassemble your new mirrors in order to cut/reverse/and re-solder 2 wires inside the mirror housing for the left/right mirror adjust motors.

I couldn't bring myself to disassemble my new mirrors, so I chose the 2nd option, installing a relay inside the each door that reverses the polarity of the left/right mirror adjust motors automatically so when you push the button left, the mirror adjusts in the proper direction. Let me see if I can find the thread I used for the relays and I post a link back up here for those that are interested.

some $800 Mirrors

and could you post some pics of your truck? id like to see the tailgate and everything else 08 you have to see how it looks and is the camera the factory camera or an aftermarket one you installed in the tailgate?

Brad, thanks for the great info. Yes i would be interested in the relay info as well.
You've answered all my questions. Only thing left to do is go put them on.
By the way where did you pick up power and ground for the new switches?
Out if curiousity, was the seller of your mirrors "wareagle" just curious.
Well thanks again. Your writeup has been a great help.

once again, THANK YOU, Howard

Pretty much bolt on. There is a small tab that needs to be removed. My experience has been that this tab on the manual fold/telescoping mirrors are plastic while on the pf/pt this tab is metal.

Here's a quick run down of the 08 mirrors to 06 mirrors wire color conversion schematic if you cannot open the pdf version of the document posted earlier in this thread.

Driver's side:
08 mirror 06 mirror
-Red w/ Silver tracer -Red
-Yellow w/ Silver tracer -Yellow
-Blue w/ Silver tracer -Blue
-Mint Green -Green
-Black -Black
-Black w/ White tracer -Black w/ White tracer OR Green w/ Purple tracer
-Brown -Brown

Passenger's Side:
08 mirror 06 mirror
-Green w/ Silver tracer -Green
-Yellow w/ Silver tracer -Yellow
-Purple w/ Silver tracer -Purple
-White -White OR White w/ Blue tracer
-Black -Black
-Black w/ White tracer -Black w/ White tracer OR Green w/ Purple tracer
-Brown -Brown

** Wire colors for Power-Fold & Power Telescoping functions were already posted earlier in this thread.

Here's the link I used for the relays in order to get the 08 mirrors to reverse the operation of the left/right functions and operate properly. It might look sort of confusing, but it was really simple to do.

08 power mirror swap wiring fix
