Reprogramming Keypad
Well, I read the write up on how to reprogram the keypad on my truck and it said call any Ford dealer and give them the VIN and they can look it up and give you the original #. Well, it doesn't work that way. I just called and they said it had to be hooked up to their computer and pulled. I figured he was just telling me that to get me in and make the money off of me, so I asked it the dealer I bought it from could call and them give it to him, they said they weren't questioning whether I was the true owner of the truck, it still had to be hooked up to retrieve the code. Guess I will see about pulling the dash panel and getting it from there. Just thought I would post this to see if anyone else has had this problem.

You are asking about the security code on the door correct? If so yes you need to go to the dealer to get them to pull it and they'll charge you some ungodly sum. or you can look around by the fuse panel or maybe under the dash in your truck for a little square whit box that has a five digit number on it. My Expedition was by the fuse panel, but they also put that box in the rear next to the fuel shut offs on certain vehicles, so you'll just need to look around til you find it, or maybe the dealer will tell you if you ask.

well i "looked" around for this supposed box on my 06 crew cab dually lariat... never found it. I saw all kinds of white stickers and none with only 5 digit number codes on them... im too cheap to pay the stealer probably their minimum of $129+ tax + my time waiting for them to finally get it... my other 06 had the card in it so its programmed to my phone number... i wish i could freking get the other truck to do that too :/ i gave up |

bought mine used and dealer said they could not get a number for the keypad, took it to another dealer and he told me the keypad on a lariat is not stock that it was an aftermarket part and could not retrieve the number. So i took the bottom part of my dash off and looked around i found a sticker behind the radio with the number on it. Check it out!!!

I had an 00 lightning that did not have the keypad. All the wiring was there for it. I bought a pad and a handle that had the opening for the pad. I put it together, walked into the parts department at my local dealer and they looked it up. I think it's odd that they are trying to get you to come in (other than seeing it's your truck). Try calling until you get someone different. Or go in and make sure they're not trying to charge you for this service. |

Well, I got under the dash, pulled out the ashtray, pushed back white insulation, and there it was, the magic number! Had to get myself in some serious positions and tight places to make out all five numbers, but it only took about 5-7 minutes once I got at it. Thanks to those who have posted the way to find this number. And thanks for saving me the dough!
