I build a ported box like SPL2K makes and run a single Pioneer shallow mount 12. I listen to pretty much everything and I just wanted good quality overall sound, not just booming bass. It sounds pretty good to me, and I spoke to SPL2K abou the diff of the Pioneer v. the JL Audio shallow mounts and he said just to go with the Pioneer, as the diff does not justify the price diff on the two.
