That is the correct method for the AVH-4000dvd. Cheap $4 relay from Autozone and some female connectors, and you can watch DVD's anytime you want.

Those are the inputs and outputs on the relay. They are marked on the relay right next to each pin. This is a picture of a Bosch relay that also has an 87a terminal. Autozone relays are only 4 prong relays. But you should get the picture. Autozone relay will not have the center 87a prong.

sweet i think i can handle that, now when you say connect the 30 to the brake wire do you mean the wire coming off the unit that is supposed to hook to the brake lead or the actual brake lead?

Connect the amp remote wire on the head unit harness to 80. Parking brake wire from head unit to prong 30. Ground prongs 86 & 87. All connections to the relay are from the wiring harness of the avh-4000dvd.
