VSM - Does my truck have one?

I am trying to get the auto headlight feature to work on my truck even though it did not come from the factory with that feature. I removed the plastic blank where the sun load sensor was located and found two wires going to a plug on the bottom side of the blank. At that point I figured the truck was wired for it, so I ordered a sun load sensor and a new headlight switch with the auto headlight feature. I installed both parts and the auto headlight feature does not work.

That's when I started looking around and found that the sun load sensor runs through the VSM (Vehicle Security Module) and that the VSM may have to be programmed at the dealership to activate the circuit for the sun load sensor. My question is, do I even have a VSM? Do all trucks have them? What's the easiest way to find out? Is it possible to look it up by VIN? Dealer wants to charge me $135 just to hook up computer and see if there is a VSM. That seems a bit ridiculous.
