Digital Voltmeter Mod

So, I recently had to replace my FICM, and think that it may have been due to low battery voltage. I have Torque, but sometimes it a pain to start the phone, then the app, then wait for Torque to load just to see the volts when starting. So, I found this little digital voltmeter on Amazon, and decided to give it a try. I like how it turned out. Haven't seen it at night, so I hope its not to bright.

I found a wire (yellow\white stripe) in the ignition that only comes on when the key is turned to run. It also doesn't shut off during cranking, which other wires I tried did. The black wire was just grounded to a nearby ground.

Looks good, I did a similar install but I mounted the unit in the half cubby hole beside my upfitter switches. I got the voltage from a wire that is left dead headed to power after market gauges, however it cuts out during cranking, I like your source better.

not bustin balls I just thought this was common
if the CTS didn't read battery voltage and FICM voltage while cranking I would have one but with the AMPS option

also it's nice to know they sell a cig lighter version and the OEM power port stays on during cranking

the install is nice and clean on the OP's truck I think the red LED might be a bit much if it's not dim able

Digital Voltmeter Mod

I think it would be more interesting to have it tapped directly into the FICM. Seen it done on a couple trucks.
