Added theft protection

Hey guys,

Been a long time since I've been on the forums and have done a lot of catching up. It sucks being 6000mi away from your truck while deployed and are not even able to enjoy it. Getting on the forums just made me sad and miss my truck even more. But I will be back home shortly.

I've been looking at adding to my anti-theft set up I already have in my truck. I have a hidden kill switch as well as a Compustar Alarm/Remote start. The model number of the exact Compustar brain escapes me but I have been looking for the ones that my remote works with and they all appear to be the same sort of set up. I am looking to add a kill-relay to my wonderful mess of anti-theft. My only concern is that the description of the wire I want to tap into to activate a relay that cuts the ability to start the truck when the alarm is active says this "250mA negative (-) output when armed and during remote start (while running). This wire is pre-wired to the anti-grind/starter-kill relay. Caution: When this wire is being used to trigger aftermarket accessories it must be diode isolated."

I am no electrical genius in anyway, so thus I ask you for help. I am assuming since I am using this to be the activated ground for my relay to kill the trucks starting system I can not just tap directly into the wire and would have to use a diode to accomplish this or is there one in the relay as pictured as my "wiring diagram"? Will the fact that it gets powered when remote started totally throw off this whole plan and will I just end up shootin myself in the foot?

"Wiring diagram" for the relay

Thanks guys. I appreciated your electrical knowledge.

I already have my compustar though and have no problems with it. I'm not looking to replace it. I'm just looking to add another piece to my anti-theft puzzle

some alarm remote starts have a starter kill built into them, if it doesn't I don't see an issue adding this to your current setup

The only issue I have is the Relay high enough current wise. The starter draws a lot of amps
