Headache rack wiring help?

I just bought my dads 2006 F350 King Ranch.. it's got a headache rack on the back with four LEDs, one on each side.. I'm having trouble wiring them up.. they have five wires... the typical trailer wires: white, brown, green and yellow I believe... then it also has a grey wire... I assumed this grey wire was to ground like a trailer. I spliced the trailer wires into a 4 prong connector and plugged them into the trucks trailer connector at the back bumper as I would a trailer and nothing.. I had the grey wire bolted to the frame after cleaning it for good connection... any ideas? the trailer plug DOES work on my truck on trailers.

The white wire is the ground on trailer wiring. If it is a 5 wire system, the gray may be the brake input wire. I'm not to sure.
