06 xl, bad speedo change out ?

have read and read, but have not found both items
of my qstn. together. need to replace digi read out
of speedo head, qstn. is will i retain my info in the
ecm ? miles, motor hr.s, i will be at a diff. milage readout
do these get transfer'd to the new head ?
try'g to learn just what the brain retains for info.

thanx for any help ahead. if i missed a post on this subj.
