Remote start systems

First and foremost, line-of-sight is not a luxury I have. Any system considered here needs to take that into account.

I currently have an Audiovox remote start system that is driven from my iPhone. It works like a dumb-fire rocket without no way to check the status of the truck. I'm not really a fan of this particular system.

What do you guys have?

I'm guessing this was posted from your phone?

You need to find a system that is 2-way. This means that the system receives inputs as well as sends inputs out. Viper, Clifford, etc.... Most new systems have 2 way pagers

I have one from a company called astrostart that has remote start, turbo cooldown option, and it is also a security system. Because it is two way, It will vibrate, chirp, and give a green engine running light when it starts or it will vibrate and give a red engine light and a green light in a specific zone (door handles, hood, etc) if someone tries to break into my truck -and the panic alarm will start. It comes with a remote so it does not work with smart phones though.

I'm considering Code Alarm myself. Good range and two-way comms.

I installed the Viper 5704v on mine. I love it. It's a 2 way system and the fob shows if the doors are locked/unlocked, shows if its running or not, tells if the hood is open, and a bunch of other little features like inside temp and stuff. It's pretty neat. It was a major pain to install, but totally worth it.

You can get them on eBay now from $100-130.

Comes with everything you need and a 1 year subscription to the service.

Even if you don't use the C3 service, it will still page the remote up to a mile away.

I don't have the C3 version, but I really want to upgrade the alarm to the newest one.

I really like the Autopage alarm, and I've been using them and installing them since the 90's.
