Ford, Chevy and Dodge all wire the trailer connectors the same. Maybe the problem is the trailers wiring. Make sure the harness going into the truck doesn't have a bad connection. If that don't work, check your trucks trailer plug yourself.

could be a small short that is just hard to find...

did you verify the fuses yourself after dealer? I had a small fuse blown driving me nutz for a few days...

you could go old school and get a hot light tester and volt meter too?

If they are working good on your buddy's Chevy and not on your truck then I think
it would be your plug in or your brake controller. Start with a test light and your plug.
Test all the wires, left turn, right turn, brake light, then running lights. If they are all
good then I think it would be a bad brake controller. If you can't do this work then
take your truck to a RV or trailer shop. Good Luck.

Do you have a Ford brake controller or a aftermarket? You say it's new, so it
could be hooked up wrong or it may be bad from the maker. Sounds like
you got some more checking to do. We are talking about your 05 Ford?

It's possible the trailer wiring has a short and when the Chevy hooked up to it the short went away.... Obivoiusly if you have power coming out the back of your trucks trailer plug then it's not the trucks issue.

Did you test the prong coming out of your trucks plug for the brakes themselves? I know you already tested the lights... But did you test the trailer brake prong?
