Its been awhile since anyone has emailed me about my dash cluster, but here is some info on it. I had to go find my old writeup on thedieselstop and just cut and paste it.

I did the mods back in like 2004 or so while I lived in New Orleans. Havnt done much to my truck since getting back to WA state. Anywayz, here is the info you guys wanted:

What is changed:

All door switches. Remove the green led and replace with blue. Also need to change the resistor as the blues are too bright.

Cruise Control lights. Remove airbag. Remove switches. Shatter incandescent bulb, but leave the bulbs wires. You need them to solder your new LEDs into. Cut illumination wire to add resistor to protect LEDs.

Headlight switch, 4x4 switch lights: Remove incandescent bulbs. Replace with LED and add resistors to protect LEDs.

AC panel. Remove green overlay. Color in the clear plastic with your choice of color. Stock bulbs remain. Could also just convert to colored LEDs after removing green overlay.

Dash cluster. Remove clear cover. warm truck up and mark all needle locations. (critical!!!!!). Remove needles. Peel gauge overlay off gauge cluster. Use nail polish remover to scrub coloring off back of gauge. The black is not easy to remove, so dont worry about it. Just focus on the green (and the white covering the green, but be careful about the white covering the RED). Recolor. I used marker. It faded. Prolly better to use model paint and an airbrush to keep the color even. Reinstall overlay. warm truck up and place needles back on in marked location. Speedometer you will have to reseat while moving, using either GPS or a pacecar. When you unseat the needles, the shafts rotate past the stop pins. Do not push the needles too far on, or they will catch on the gauge face and stick. Again, after removing green coloring, you may be able to get away with just changing to colored LEDs.
