Strange stereo failure

My factory stereo has lost lighting on the left 1/3 of the buttons, but they work. Of course this is a pain at night.
The clock button on the right side lights up, but doesn't work.

Any suggestions? Is this thing junk?

unless you feel like rippin it open and trying to figure it out it's probably junk

since it's not on a separate circuit or anything like that it must be internal
