No Power at OBDII port or Cig Lighter - Fuse is fine!

Hey guys,

I went to plug my SCT programmer into my 2005 F350 OBDII port yesterday and it had a blank screen. My initial reaction was that the SCT was dead, but I decided to look up the fuse layout in the Owners Manual. I noticed that my primary cigar lighter is listed as "Cigar lighter/OBDII" in the Owners Manual. I proceeded to check the lighter and it doesn't work. I then pulled the fuse box cover and checked the fuse and it's good. Even replaced it with a known good fuse, but still no power to the Cigar lighter or the OBDII port.

I just did a quick test with my multi-meter and I do have power on one side of the blade fuse socket, but nothing at the OBDII port or at the lighter.

Has anyone run across this before? Is there another protective device between the fuse and the devices it's protecting?(relays, larger fuses, fuse links, etc)

HELP! I need to re-program my PCM!

Thanks

Doug

it is a fuse, happened to me a couple weeks ago. i wish i remember the fuse position. i think that it is under the dash though, not under the hood. Do u have a manual or a booklet that came with ur truck?

I have a similar problem as you. My ODBII works but my lighter doesn't. I checked the fuse and it was fine. The first time I loaded my sct it went to some error screen, the next time it loaded just fine though. Is your problem that the unit won't even turn on or light up? I checked the fuses also and mine were fine so i'm not sure why my lighter doesn't work, but I hope that this might have helped..if not...

The SCT is totally power-less - no sign of any life on the screen, and the Cig lighter is also power-less. Unfortunately I don't have a factory schematic for the truck, so I can't look at that circuit to determine if there's some other device inline. It wouldn't make any sense for Ford to have put in another fuse or fused link after the blade fuse in the main fuse box. Odd.

Are there and schematics posted on this site anywhere? 2005 F350.

Thanks for the feedback on your truck.

See if there is continuity between the fyse and the dlc, because if i remember right there is nothing else in that curciut, just a splice to the lighter. so llook fo broken wires. I can get more info tomorrow at work if i remember. but the wire shoulb be light blue with a white stripe, but im not sure
