Over Head Console quit

So it happened a while ago but it hasnt really bothered me. But as the temps seem to keep being warmer, and as i monitor my EOT and ECT I really miss knowing what the ambient temp is outside.

When it cut out I used to be able to hit the left button repeatedly and it would kick back on. Now it wont even do that. I have absolutly no idea how this system works or let alone have I been able to find a wiring diagram. I have checked all of my fuses and they all check good. Is there a relay or something that runs the overhead console. Or where do I start trouble shooting?

Thanks for any help in advance

If your repeatedly pressing the buttons and it worked for a while makes me believe you have a wire shorting out inside the overhead console. I'd use a test light and check for any voltage going to the monitor. I haven't seen a wiring diagram for overhead consoles but if I find one... I'll post it up for ya.

Thanks bud I appreciate it. Should I pull the console down and start shooting there? OR I have heard the connecter that takes all the wires up to the console is behind the passanger kick panel.... Not gonna lie, I'm kinda scared to pull it down >.<

Search on google for Ford overhead console repair. These units are notorious for bad solder joints in the diodes that drive the display. There is a YouTube video showing step by step how to remove it, fix it and reinstall fairly easily.

Mine has an intermittent dropout only on the compass, so it's only a matter of time till I need fix mine.

Thanks for serving our Country!
