Aftermarket radio install harness

Hi,

I am planning on replacing the Ford single disc player with a aftermarket unit. I was told by the stereo shop that I needed to buy an adapter for the radio antenna. The antenna cable on the aftermarket unit is the type found on all radios dating back to the 70's. I haven't taken the Ford radio out yet, so I don't know what it looks like at the back. Anyone know if this is true?

Thanks.
