New Stereo

Reposting this in this forum.....So the factory stereo in my truck is crapping out on me, so I'm gonna get myself a new head unit and probably speakers. Never really been too big on having a sub but wouldn't mind having a little bit of bass. Any suggestions on a good setup?

Do you have gauges for your truck?

Weird question for a person wanting a new stereo set up, I know.

But here is why I ask. There are things taking place with the Dash Boss and iPhone/iPad that might work (probably does work) with a Pioneer head unit.

DashBoss monitoring review.

Don't get in a hurry just yet. You might be on the cusp of Pioneer and DashBoss feeding live gauges straight to your head unit via bluetooth. (I don't know this for sure, but it is looking good)

As for speakers and sound? I have zero clue. Everyone has their own opinion of what music should sound like. Might want to stop by a local stereo shop and have a listen.

Haha yeah I already have a Quad pillar set up with auto meter gauges and the last spot on the pod has been custom fitted with my Livewire TS

Oh, I just put in the Pioneer AVH X5500BHS. I really like it.

AVH-X5500BHS - 2-DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver with 7" WVGA Touchscreen Display, MIXTRAX, Bluetooth®, HD Radio™ Tuner, SiriusXM Ready, and AppRadio Mode for iPhone® | Pioneer Electronics USA

I also replaced the speakers with Pioneer 3-ways. Pioneer TS-A874M

They do give enough bass for the wife.

I put in a switch so we could play movies while driving. (yes, illegal) We just took a 2400 mile trip, and was glad to have it.

I'll have to look into those speakers. I would love to have some speakers that have decent bass without having to have a sub. Not sure I need the DVD receiver but I probably will go with pioneer or Kenwood head unit.

I also just upgraded my head unit(Today) and went with the AVH X5500BHS, loving it so far. Waiting on my video bypass to arrive, will have to take everything apart to hook it up. For the price you can't beat the 5500BHS, i got mine for 379 2 day shipping.
