Replaced Audiophile amp/sub, having problems...

Replaced factory Audiophile sub, having problems...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I removed my factory Audiophile amp/sub enclosure from my truck. I installed an MTX Thunderform enclosure with a pair of 10" Rockford Fosgate P3SD410's in it. I had no problems wiring power to the amplifier and wiring the amplifier to the subs.

I am still having a problem with my bass output though. I tried to tap into the low level stock sub inputs, but could not get any sound at all from them. Then I tried tapping into the stock sub output on the back of the radio. Nothing. So I decided to tap into the rear door speaker outputs on the back of the radio and use a LOC. It works but I don't seem to be getting the low bass. I think that those outputs may be crossed over and may not be full range so I may only be getting mid-bass. Would I be better off putting the stock amp back in and then tapping into the output from the stock amp?

If any of you guys have replaced the stock sub but are still using the stock HU, I would really love to know where you tapped into the stock system for audio.

Thanks!

John

Hello, Some times factory speakers aren't always the usuall 4 ohms. Could be 8 or 6. Make sure you have the polarity on the subs correct they might be out of phase. Switch the wires. Hope that might help.

Thats odd. I thought I had read that other folks had been able to get audio to the sub from the factory sub wire. You shouldn't have to put the amp back.

In my case I put in the sub at the same time as an aftermarket head unit so I ran new cables.

The sub itself is probably the problem. The Rockford P3 shallow subs have a really high fs so they are not really capable of playing low bass like a typical subwoofer. Until the JL shallow subs start shipping, the Pioneer is the only good sounding shallow 12" avaialable. The Rockford P3 and the Kicker CVT's are more like midbass drivers.
