Odometer trick fail

Tried the odometer trick for funsies. The display lit up "test" and then all segments lit up with 8's. Pushing or holding the reset button does not cycle through the various parameters. I just have 8's. Turning they key off and on does not help.

Did I break my cluster?

I can disconnect the batteries at lunch.

Disconnected the batteries, cycled the headlamps a few times, reconnected the batteries. Dash is fixed, and it actually entered test mode correctly.

Test mode is kind of neat.

Pulled a DTC 9352. I assume it has something to do with the batteries being disconnected.

I've never tried so I can't help. A Google search indicates that this is a common code when you do the odometer test.
