I like that but one thing always bugs me, and it happens on my 7" touchscreen is the glare from the sun...it makes it impossible to see the screen sometimes...

There Is a small lip that holds it in, and on the bottom dock connector it has some small "locks" that help keep it connected.

I did it because I had a double din unit before with iPad/iPhone compatibility, and all I ever used on it as a source was my ipad or iPhone for pandora, or videos, and it was more of a hassel, plus the ipad has a much larger screen for videos, and navigation.

But how are you routing the signal to the speakers in the truck?
