I've never messed with the factory Ford DVD system, but I know it's possible to make it work with an aftermarket radio. There are two different types--a factory installed and a dealer installed. They're hard to tell apart except for color. Go to avic411.com. There's an installer called cntrylvr79 that's posted how to do it before on other Fords. Either search for it or ask him. If you don't have an Pioneer head unit, say you do. LOL They're into Pioneers mainly there. Good luck.

You have to tap on to the power and ground of the flip down unit to make it power on with the key. And only the wireless headphones will work. you cant tie it into the radio wires or you will get a crap picture

You can make the audio work through the aux input of the aftermarket head unit. I just don't remember exactly how you do it. It probably requires soldering some RCA cables to the factory wires for the overhead DVD.

you will get one he!! of an engine wine because its signel is less than 1 volt becaese it runs through the factory amp . it also should have 3 plugs behind the radio and none of the wires needed are on the same harness
