Alright stereo gurus, need help!
Electronics is really not my area of expertise... I have a simple question really. I have a Pioneer AVIC-D3 in my truck. A while back I wired in a aftermarket backup camera to the radio, it works, but I get an annoying message "parking brake improperly connected...blah, blah." I found some instructions to wire in a relay on youtube to "trick" the unit. Worked great for about 2 months, no message, now I get it constantly again every time I start the truck. Anybody else got a remedy for this little annoyance?

Did your trick include wiring it back on itself? Trying to find it. The parking brake wire gets pushed back into another wire on the radio.....just cant remember which one.

You know I think the relay wired the parking brake ground wire to the power antenna wire?! I got to look it up again. I can't remember. I'm an idiot when it comes to this crap.

Just found this.
SMOOTH AVIC-D3 BYPASS - Hacks/Mods - AVIC411.com Anybody try it? I think I'll give it a shot, won't be until next weekend though. Anybody try it? |

Just in case anybody was wondering this does work. I just pulled the mute wire out of the harness, stuck it in the empty spot above it in the plug and grounded it out along with the parking break. And that's it!
