How's the weather???

Ian,

How's the weather up there? I haven't been back to Fort Mac since October, but sounds like I'll get to experience it in January.....Can't wait.

Replaceing your batteries might not accomplish what you are trying to do. The 2007's were specked out from the factory with 750 cca's ,so I am reasonably sure your batteries are up to specs capacity wise. You might think that increasing your cca's by 19
percent is going to give you a 19 percent improvement. This is not necessarily the case. You would only see that kind of improvement if your load resistance MATCHES the load resistance of the manufacturers test load when they rated the battery. To see the improvement you need in current supply, the money would be better spent on upsizing
your cables, your starter ,and beefing up your starter solenoid(gold plateing???). The comparitive resistance is much higher here than internally of your battery. I suspect that assuming your 850's are like new, your current gain is going to be minimal with 1000 cca batteries.
I suspect that ,with those minus 30 temperatures, you should be using a fresh change of synthetic oil,if your not already.( along with your block heater) and a nearby bonfire.

I see what you meen about resistance I am running 0-40 syn and block heater all the time, I have since figured that is a draw killing the batterys I just haven't had the time to find it yet

I have fit 1000cca bats in my truck no problem. I guess it is just a matter of finding them.
