$200 well spent / Happy ears

A few years ago I replaced my stock stereo with am Alpine DVD/NAV unit. Sound was better, but still sucked. Then a couple years ago I put a small powered sub behind the rear seat. Sound still sucked, but at last I had so some lows.

For Christmas my wife bought me Polk speakers. DB6501 6.5" components for the front and DB651 6.5" for the rear. Along with the adapter plates, it was all under $200 from Ebay. I just finished installing it all. Money well spent!! I finally have a respectable sounding stereo! If you've still got those crappy stock speakers, ditch em. They are horrible. I finally have the highs I've been missing and can turn up the volume to an enjoyable level without distortion.

Like many of the guys on the forum, I drilled the 2" holes and flush mounted the tweeters in three door just above the black panel where the window switches are. Looks slick and sounds great!

That's where 2 of mine are. The other 2 are in the side panels above the rear seat belt pivot.

I went for the easy install for the rears and just got the ones with the tweeter in front of the woofer... the kids won't complain about the sound while they're watching Disney princess movie, ha ha.

LOL I didn't install it. The truck had a full Kicker 8 piece component system installed when I bought it lol (8 piece as in 8 speakers).

Can you post some pics? I'm looking to do something similar. I got a Kenwood head unit for christmas and I already have a kenwood amp powering a kicker 10" sub behind the back seat but I am in desperate need of some good door speakers and tweeters. I would love a good 8 piece kit from kicker if its a reasonable price. I've been looking at jl and focal so I know I'm going to be spending some $$$ but I know it will be well worth it.
