i have an 04 with an 03 6.0...i love my Scan Gauge II

it was $150 and pulls and clears codes...it'll show water temp, MAP, etc in a numerical format, in real time...it doesn't add any power so it won't void anything..it is CAN compatible..not every function listed works with the deisels, but enough do that i think it's worth the $$$..

on edit: i see they have a new software upgrade..i'll have to get it and post back..says horsepower and trans temp may be able to be displayed..here's a link to what MAY be available..clicky

save the cash

if you just need to read and clear some codes occasionally i would just go to checkers auto parts store, NAPA, or auto zone. those stores will allow you to use there code reader for free. I just went to checkers today, actually, and used there reader. after using there reader i told the guy what the code reader said and he hooked me up with some Lukas fuel treatment at employee discount ;-). check engine light still hasnt come back on!

Yep I was wondering about a scanner too. Autozone says their scanner wont do me any good since my truck doesnt have a service light on. Of course I cant even get it to start. It started running rough and so I parked and turned it off and it wouldnt stast up again. I replaced the filter and the water separator and serviced the egr and still nothing.. I cant figure it out and dont know what to check next. I thought maybe the ipr or the icp but I cant reach em (below turbo on my 04) to check anything on them. The fuel filter has fuel in it and with the top off I can cycle key and it sprays out everywhere so at least fuel is moving up to there. Dont know if its an hpop problem or not. I do hear the injectors firing but it still will not start.

it doesnt matter if the light is on or not , if there is something wrong it is very possible to have a code stored in memory , there scanner may not be able to pull the codes that would be different , sounds to me like its possible for you to have a high pressure pump problem, get a scanner that will work on it , get codes pulled and post back , thats what i would do first

Are scanners that are combined with gauges as accurate as if they were seperate. it sounds to me like its the biggest bang for your buck and those big azz mechanical gauges aren't in your view of the road!
