trailer disconnect

I am getting the trailer disconnect tone from time to time while towing. It does not happen when I do not have the trailer plugged in. I am using the 7 wire socket. Most of the time I do not get the message on the dash and the trailer does not turn red but sometimes it does. What is the truck looking at thinking that the trailer is disconnected. It does not look like the lights go out on the trailer when this happens and I have regrounded the trailer wiring.

Check to make sure the spades are in good shape, may need to spread them a little to ensure a good connection. One trailer of mine does it all the time, and I finally found out it is bad trailer brake solenoids on my trailer, so I unhooked the wire because that thing dinging drives me nuckin futs. LOL

Make sure you have a good connection on your trailer plug and that your trailer light wires aren't too short that when you drive it pulls the plug out slightly during turns and such

3d, I've been fighting the same problem for over a month now. Tried different adaptors (trying to go from 7 blade to six pin) and still no luck.

Actually went today and had all the wiring checked out and it seems everything is okay.

Long story short, I'm thinking the Ford OEM controller just isn't working as it should. I think I'm going to just put a Prodigy in the truck and be done with it.

Good luck.

So has switching to a 7 prong fixed the problem? Or does it need a 6 prong wired correctly?
