2005 E350 Interior Light Problem

I replaced the batteries on the 2005 E350. now, the interior lights take a long time to shut turn off. Before replacing the batteries, the lights would turn off soon after the doors were locked. Now, it takes forever for the interior lights to go out.

Also, at first, the interior light swould stay on until the vehicle started moving. They would turn off once I hit about 15 MPH. Now they do not turn off at all while driving.

I do not know much about this particular vehicle. Perhaps there is a lighting module that need to be reconfigured?

I have an OBD2 reader and software for my lap-top computer. I checked that out to see if there was a lighting module interface on teh CANbus. This did not appear to be the case.

Any ideas out there? ...like I said, the problems all started when I changed the batteries.

TIA,
Joe

Does the door ajar light stay on? Sounds like either a door isnt shut or a faulty door ajar switch. I haven't heard of being able to adjust the time that the lights stay on.

Thank you for the response.

The "door ajar"light is not on.

A lot of cars have nowadays have a lighting module. So, depending on the modules programming, it is possible to control the lighting. For instance, keeping the interior lights on for a delayed time after turning the vehicle off, or shutting off the lights if the vehicle is locked before that timer has timed out.

Anyway, ever since changing the batteries, the interior lighting got whacked out.
