Reverse lights
So just put some old hella ff50s under my rear bumper for some much needed light out back. Haven't wired them in yet, but I think I'm gonna tap the reverse light wire and run a relay to power them so they come on when I go.into reverse. Any opinions or advice on what I should do? Open to all suggestions! Oh and they r driving wide beam lights and I wish they were fogs but oh well I guess well see what the results are once they are wired up.

Mine are tapped in to the reverse lights with no relay. However, I want to wire them up to an upfitter switch as well but I know I need a relay for that, I just dont know how to do it.

On my '01, I decided to use a relay when I wired mine. Works just fine.

mine are also wired to a upfitter switch. dont remember wire color but took a switch and connected it to the reverse feed coming out of the fuse box. now if i put in reverse the stock and aftermarket lights come on or i can just flip the switch and have some "work" lights.
the upfitter are already wired thru relays so no need for another relay. mike |

But when I tried to wire them that way when I turned the upfitter on my aftermarket lights lit up along with my factory lights and my reverse sensors.

Well just got done wiring them up! They are 55w's each so I played it safe and used a relay. I ran a primary wire from the battery back to the rear bumper and used a relay activated by the rear right back up lamp. Pretty easy install cept for having to solder and cut and crimp under the rear the whole time to get the harness like I wanted. Mounted the relay on the back of one of the panels under there. When the truck goes into reverse it lights up perfectly! I'm gonna wait till tonight and get them aimed right and if it isn't raining and ill post up some pics!

Well it didn't rain and I was able to test out the lights. I had some issues earlier when I was doing the high idle mod and my truck wouldn't crank so I was freaking out a bit haha. It ended up being a fuse that tripped in the alarm system/remote start. I guess its a good system if it goes off by tampering with any of the wiring.
Well here's a few of the pics with the truck in reverse while I was aiming them correctly. I wish they were fog lights but I had these hella driving lights laying around and they fit perfectly and actually don't do bad at all. The hot spot of the light is right where I need the light so it looks good! Let me know what yall think! I was also thinking about getting some glass sand paper?(if they make that) and fogging the lenses to make the light spread more evenly but I dunno if it would work out like I'm thinking it might. All in all I think that they look sweet tucked up in there. Appear to be plenty bright too.
