Gauges......

Excuses my ignorance. I'm sure this topic has been beat to death. I want a good set of gauges. I don't know much about which is better digital or analog. I would like to be able to monitor engine oil temp, coolant temp, trans temp, and possibily exhaust temp. I don't have a programmer/tuner, nor am I interested in one. I just want to be able to monitor the trucks vitals....any suggestions?

try the search button, but i bet you have, but analog guages are nice, but you can only moniter one thing per guage, so i would recommend digital. You can purchase an edge cs or cts, a scan guage, and multiple other options, now keep in mind, that these will only monitor, not tune

I love my Dakota Digital gauges. Especially at night.

CS or CTS will probably be the the best bang for your buck. You will have to get the EGT probe add on and I'd suggest fuel pressure too.

If you want analog, Isspro is the way to go . But, plenty of folks have had good luck with autometer and some use glowshift.

I don't have one but the scangauge ll is a good value and allot of the guy's on here use them. They're fairly compact easy to mount and hookup to the OBDll port as well as reasonably priced around $149

I run a set up of the Edge Insight CS and Autometer guages.

The deciding factor for me expanding to the monitor, vise a few more gauges was monitoring of FICM Voltage. A leading cause of fuel injector failure on the 6.0L. This simply cannot be monitored via a traditional gauge.

Bang for the buck is the Edge Insight CS, I'm not huge on the ScangaugeII, though it is cheaper. You can expand the Insight to read EGT and Fuel Pressure later on as funds become available, or opt for traditional gauges for those.

Here's a pic of my set up, any questions let us know.
