HELP: Wiring for PIE Aux Adaptor

Hey guys, just got an aux adapter from PIE so i can plug in my ipod and use the factory AUX button. I've got the dash apart and the radio taken out, the 16 pin connector fits and i know how i want to run the adapter box so it's out of the way.

I only have one problem, I don't know where to splice the adapter wiring for the power source (cable is grey/violet). I was thinking about the 12v outlet or the cigarette lighter, but wouldn't that drain the batteries if it was always plugged in? I can't seem to find any diagrams either.

Has anyone done this install?

UPDATE: for anyone that is wondering, i spliced into the factory cd/radio harness using the PINK for power which is when the key is on acc or run and off when the truck is off. the black wire is the ground.

it took some guessing and frustration but it works! i'm glad i didn't go pay someone to do it!

IowaStroker,

The adapter costs around 100 bucks and lets you use your factory aux button to work an ipod, phone, etc....

I just replaced my factory unit and no longer need my adapter. Will ship it to you for 60 bucks including all wires needed to plug directly into the headphone jack on your device.

Let me know if you want it.

The grey violet needs to go to a constant 12V. Sometimes if if goes to acc only, the radio might not recognize the adapter and it will have to be unplugged to reset it. Even though it is powered by a constant 12V,it is drawing a very low amount of current(less then 5 mA) and will not cause any issues.

I was able to do it just by taking off the bag hook and the cup holders an reaching up behind the radio to plug in. I got power from the white/blue wire under dash which is fine while key is on but I think i'd like to find a better source so its on in acc.
