fuel tank capacity - for overhead console
Apologies if this is answered somewhere else, my searching didn't find it.
Just installed a replacement overhead console information center in my F350, and it is working with one slight error: it seems to think I have a much smaller fuel tank than is actually in the vehicle. (MPG, outside temp are both okay.) Actual tank capacity is 33 gal. Just filled up the tank. Drove a couple of miles, the "lie-o-meter" says I'm getting 15.4 mpg, which is about right. BUT the "miles to empty" says 263, meaning the console thinks the truck only has 17 gallons of fuel. The information center came from Tousley. Is there some way to re-program these things? Thanks in advance. |

So this is a brand new part not used? Is your truck a short or long bed? Short bed tank is 29 gal, long bed 39 gal (I believe). From what I know, the miles to empty is based on the previous 800 miles the truck was driven. So....push both buttons to reset it, drive about 2 tanks and see if the miles to empty becomes normal. If so....you don't need to do anything. Remember....if pulling heavy during the next 7-800 miles, your miles to empty wont be accurate for an unloaded truck when you fill up.

Brand new part. It's a long bed dually, and 39 gallons makes sense - thanks.
I've run one tank since installing it, so will give it a couple more. Appreciate the help. Sent from my Autoguide iPhone app |
