voltage regulator and hids?

Anybody do the hi&lo + fog light hids have any trouble from them being dim or flickering? The company I bought mine from called and tried to sale me a hi performance voltage regulator or something saying the lights would pull lots if juice and they would last longer.. just checkin to make sure it's not really needed.

Pulling more juice means more heat. Next thing you know you'll be replacing plastic, and wiring. Be carefull...

The salesman was saying the hids pull lots of juice from the battery so it was possible I needed the voltage regulator to keep a constant amount of power to the system. It seemed truthful but he's a salesman lol.

I've never heard of such a thing. I've been running 55W hi/low HIDs for almost a year with no issues. I say its just a sales pitch I don't see any reason for a stronger regulator, as their is no way lights are going to drain our two big batteries!
