Headlights melting????

I am a firefighter and we have a 2007 F350 6.0 powerstroke with 4560 miles little over 650 eng hrs on it. This morning we noticed that the round deflector in front of the light bulbs in the headlights are melting. One of them has actually melted off and is laying in the bottom of the light. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what is the cause? How do we fix it? The headlamps are completely stock we simply added a light bar to the top of the truck and 2 lights in the back which are wired to the auxillary switches on the dash. Any help whatsoever is greatly appreciated.

Are you the original owner? Sounds like someone installed aftermarket bulbs that are higher wattage.

Yes the fire dept ordered the truck it was built in June of 2006 and we took delivery of it shortly after it was built. I keep all the maintenance records and the bulbs have never been changed since we tokk delivery.

That's crazy. Do you have a pic of where it's melting? Did you have strobes installed into the headlights or marker lights?

A pic will take me a bit, No no strobes or any modifications of any kind to the headlights whatsoever. There is some sort of deflector that hangs down from the top of the assembly and stops right in front of the bulb and sort of encases the front of the bulb. Anyway it is melting right above the bulb where this deflector thing slides in. Its really just a bone stock F350 XL with some aftermarket lights on the upfitter switches. We do have a battery tender plugged in all the time but it kicks on if the batteries drop below 12v. I have talked to the local Ford dealer and the parts and service managers have never heard such a thing. So I went straight here I figured this is where the knowledge was anyway.

Wow, that's weird because I haven't ever heard of it either. At least not without someone altering something.

seems like a factory defect of the headlight...

Never heard of that happening with stock light bulbs!
Talk to the dealer I guess.

Also,
Is that 4,560 original miles on a 2007 truck???
