Yes it is a hard mount. I have a wilson trucker 2000. I cant mount on my toolbox because it's a low profile, I cant mount in the middle of my back window cause of my toolbox.

Go to a hardware store, get an L bracket that is made from galvanized steel. Slide one part of the L bracket under your toolbox and bolt it in with the tool box mounting bolt. Then mount your antenna to the outside of the L bracket. Then you will have your antenna and your toolbox. I know it won't be centered but it will still work good as long as you get it matched to the radio.

I disaggree with there tunning of the antenna to the radio. To reach maximum performance from your investment of the radio. Tune it properly, that means obtain as close as possible 1 to 1 match radio to antenna. This will also prevent premature equipment failure.

I have the tuner box that goes between the radio and the antenna. When you key the mic you want the needle to barely move if i remember right. I can't recall the exact numbers that you want, but i tuned a uniden radio with a wilson trucker 5000 and now it works sweet! Also the location of the coax cable will have a big impact. While i was tuning i had my cable laying on the floor of the truck and i couldn't get it to tune past a certain point, but then i moved my coax onto my dash and it blended everything together perfect
