Door switch/radio and lights

I am having the issue with my drivers door not turning anything off when I open it. The question I have is, if I unplug the switch should everything turn off?

I removed the button from the actual latch and when I pushed it in or when I let it out it did nothing so I unplugged it, still nothing.

Is this confirmation that the switch itself is bad and not gummed up?

The switch is only like $25 so not a big deal to replace it, I am just curious.
