Question Stock 6 disk head units?

Hi guys

Ive been told that it can be done but im looking for someone who has done it or really know that it will work.

My sd is an 2004 with the single disk and cassette, I would really love to just throw in a 6 disk stock for unit with no wires to cut or splice. I own a 2003 ford lightning and the 6 disk in that looks identical to the single disk that's in my sd.

So with out taking my Lightning apart to check if the plugs are the same, are all of the 6 disks that ford used 2003-2004 have the same plugs and will it plug in and operate correctly in my sd?

Thanks

If there are two small holes in each side of the unit all you need to remove them is the Ford radio removal tool or a coat hanger bent in a U shape. You should easily be able to swap the two units. I put a Ranger unit in my Explorer and then put it in my friend's 2002 F250 for awhile. Any of the units that size will most likely fit your truck. Also the plugs are all the same so there will be no splicing required.

If the height of the unit is the same (DIN & 1/2 I believe) and the plugs are the same, then it will work no problem.
