Strange electrical issue - need help
Ok - 2005 F250 KR. Driver's door switches (power mirrors, locks and windows) will not work when the truck is running. None of the window switches for any of the other doors work any more either. However, all of the other door lock switches work when the truck is running except for the driver's door.
With ignition switch turned to accessory, the power mirrors will work, as will the locks. But, the power windows will not work and when I push the switch down as if to auto open the window on the driver's door switch, the switch makes a high pitched buzzer noise. I recently changed jobs and travel alot so my days of being able to trouble shoot through these things over a leisurely Saturday/Sunday are over. I also would rather have a solution and fix it myself instead of aprking this truck at the dealer for a week when I need it for travel. My guess is that for some reason, the dirver's door window switch routes power to all the other switches OR there is a fuse that needs replaced that regulates power to these accessories when the truck is running. I hope it is something simple! Help!!!!! |

Solution!
Just to follow up. Switches in door checked out fine. Peeled back rubber boot between door and body - found broken ground wire. .50 later for a butt connector and problem has been resolved.
I was worried there for a little bit as in my experience, once electrical stuff starts going wrong, the bank account rapidly drains. In the future, that will be the first place I look. |

Congrats on finding the gremlin! Those things can be difficult to find. I was thinking it sounded like the window selector switch (the one you use to lock the kids from being able to roll down the windows).
